Fire Island
Residence
PROJECT DETAILS
Sometimes small plots can offer great things. This is the case at this Fire Island retreat. The beachy landscape is sandtracked and grassy. You can see the wind in the growth of all trees and grasses, setting the tone for all that accompanies the native flora.
1. Rear garden
The entrance is a seamless approach from the sandy beach leading to a large deck between sister houses for a true indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Cooking, showering, veggie gardening all happens at once between the two cottages.
2. Native grasses and wildflowers
3. Agastache
4. Anemone
Salle designed a deer proof garden with a meandering sand path at the rear of the property. The garden has many traditional white flowers mixed with sixty percent native grasses and perennials. Along the fence are custom trellises for climbers that will ramble over time in the recently planted garden.
5. Two cottages with adjoining deck
